Coastal Stunner (Before and After)
As Coastal Living magazine states, the clients and EGA “turned this architectural crazy quilt into a coastal stunner. Every area, from the gourmet kitchen to the infinity-edge pool to the grand Master Bedroom was designed to excellence.”
The more complex the design requirements, the more creative the solutions become. Taking advantage of the sweeping views of Puget Sound and the Kingston, WA ferry dock was a predominant concern. However, blending the cacophony of additions to an original 1928 cabin proved the biggest hurdle. By rebuilding the middle of the structure to include the new Entry, Kitchen and Master Suite, EGA tied the disparate spaces together and created a cohesive whole.
The 12 foot long kitchen island doubles as a work and demonstration area for quilting seminars given by the owner. It is made from a solid 3 inch thick book-matched slab of Bubinga wood.
The house is filled with personal touches such as display space for the owners’ transfer ware collection and quilts. If you look closely at the “His and Hers” vanities in the Master Bathroom, you will notice that they are designed at different heights. The infinity edge pool has a built in hot tub so that whether you are swimming or relaxing, you feel connected to spectacular surroundings.
In the end, EGA created a stunning home which is eclipsed only by its location.
