(Before and After)
This renovation had the extra component of being the owner’s childhood home. Hence, not only did it need to be remodeled, but it needed to be done without compromising the original character that carried with it personal experiences and memories.
Strict Edmonds code restrictions presented an extra challenge. Despite those, Eric Gedney Architect was able to upgrade the garage to fit two cars and build a second story addition to provide the space the owners needed. This provided a master suite plus an additional bedroom and bathroom, as well as views of the Edmonds waterfront, Puget Sound, and the Olympic Mountains. In the process, EGA also transformed the entryway and its accompanying roofline in order to be more welcoming.
The result was an upgraded home that is obviously traditional in character yet accommodating of the modern lifestyle.
