Stealth Remodel

(Before and After)

Needing more room but not wanting to compromise the house’s personality, this West Seattle renovation took these two seemingly opposite goals and created a complimentary final product.

Eric Gedney Architect designed a space-conscious second story which gave the owners two new bedrooms, a full master suite, and a shared bathroom. On the exterior, the roofline doesn’t overpower the neighborhood’s natural feel while still providing the space necessary for their growing needs. EGA positioned the master bedroom and new main floor deck -- ideal for entertaining -- so they frame views of downtown Seattle and the Rainier Plateau.

This remodel was proof that you don’t need to sacrifice neighborhood character when building a significant structure. Rather, these two priorities can complement each other to get the most out of a home.
